May News 2017
May is already here…this year is flying by! We love the nice weather, as it allows for so much outdoor fun and learning. We are working to reduce the tick epidemic with Simply Safer Lawn Care’s, organic tick and mosquito control products, but we usually need 3 treatments to see result. Please continue to check your children every evening, just in case. We are checking after outdoor play daily. Please be sure your child has bug spray and sunscreen, summer clothes, a water bottle and it’s a good idea to have a hat and sunglasses too. Please label all items.
Our Family Fun Event is scheduled for Fri. June 2, 2017 from 6-8:30PM at the Dudley-Gendron Post Field (behind the barn). We are having a CARNIVAL theme including cotton candy, bounce houses, face painting and more! Please try to attend as it is a great way to get to know other parents and socialize with friends.
National Teacher Appreciation Day was Tues. May 2nd. (I’m sorry for the lateness of this newsletter). I always appreciate my staff all week! If you appreciate your child’s teacher and the wonderful work they do each day, please let them know! A card, note or token of appreciation is always nice!!
I have hired a new assistant teacher who began working in April. Miss Taylor is a high school student who is interested in college and a career in teaching young children. Taylor will primarily be working with the infant-toddler group, but she may be in preschool sometimes too. Please say hello and introduce yourself to her if you see a new face.
Our annual Mother’s Day breakfast is scheduled for next Friday, May 12th from 7:30-9:00. Please try to spend a few minutes to have a continental style breakfast with your child…it means A LOT to them to have you here!
We will be closed on Mon. May 29th in observance of Memorial Day…the official kickoff of summer!! Enjoy your long weekend.
The “VACATION schedule” is below. Please complete the form and return it to the office no later than May 26, 2017 so I can plan summer staffing and their vacations. Thanks!
As always, your comments, concerns and suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Please call or stop by the office anytime! September and staff

April News 2017
April already! Where is the year 2017 going?! With the nice weather the children will be spending more time outside. Spring is here and so is the MUD, please keep your child’s boots at school. Please be sure your child has extra clothes that are season appropriate. Also, when your child is sent home in extra clothes that belong to Small Wonders, please wash and return them to your child’s teacher by the end of the week.
We will be closed Monday, April 17th for Patriots Day. Have a nice long weekend.
Graduation this year for Miss Laura’s Pre-k class will be Friday June 23,2017. The
graduation will start promptly at 5:30. Parents and relatives are welcome to come, and refreshments will be served.
We have 3 staff vacations planned for this month. Miss Shannon will be on vacation from April 3-7 (Disney World), Miss Emily P. from April 10-14 (Island trip) and Miss September from 17-21 (Florida and Myrtle Beach). Miss Sue will be covering for Shannon and Emily and Miss Jen will cover the office for me while Miss Kristi covers Jen’s room.
If your child will be going to KINDERGARTEN in Sept. 2017, you should have been contacted by the school he/she will be attending. If you have not heard from the elementary school about registration or evaluation, please call the school ASAP.
Show and Tell is every Friday in the preschool and Pre-K classes. Please try to help your child choose a toy that is safe, (no guns or swords please) fun to talk about and of reasonable size (should fit in the cubby box). Most weeks, the teachers would like Show N Tell items to begin with the “Letter of the Week”. Please ask your child weekly what the letter is and try to find something that begins with that letter. Please DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO BRING TOYS ON ANY OTHER DAY.Your cooperation is appreciated!
Please remember, the center opens at 7:00 and closes at 6:00 daily. Families choose the hours needed for care and teachers are scheduled accordingly. PLEASE DO NOT show up early or stay late without calling the center in advance. We are scheduled according to the state ratios and early drop off or late pick up can throw us out of ratio, causing safety issues. There is an additional charge for extra hours. Please call the office with any questions.
We will be hosting a Family Event (working on it now) on Friday, June 2nd from 6-8:30. There will be a theme (TBD), snack drinks, tons of fun and a great time together. ALL family members are welcome to join us….the more the merrier! We hope you can join us. Stay tuned for details.
I have attached a summer and fall schedule change form. Please complete the form and return it to the office or your child’s teacher as soon as you can.
Please let us know if you have any suggestions or questions at any time, we appreciate you allowing us to help nurture and educate your child. Have a great month! September & staff

Happy 3 year anniversary to Miss Liz! Thanks for all you do at Small Wonders. We are so happy you are back to work…we missed you while you were on maternity leave.

We will also be closed on Friday March 24th so that all of the staff can attend the Mass. Assoc. for the Education of Young Children (MAEYC) conference in Westford MA. Our holiday schedule does include “one floating holiday to be determined by the director each year” and professional development for our staff is so very important. Hopefully with over a 60 day notice, everyone can make arrangements for the children that day. Please call the office with questions or concerns.
If you need a total amount paid for childcare in 2016, please let September know in writing. Other questions or special situations can be handled individually, in person or by phone.
Please be sure your child comes to school every day with appropriate outdoor clothing.
Please include a winter coat, a hat and mittens, snow pants and boots. Not only is it fun to play outside, but it’s also important for young children to use their large muscles daily. Please do not ask us to keep your child indoors; fresh air is good for “mildly ill” children as long as they are properly dressed.
This month’s theme is Community Helpers. We would like to invite you to come in and share
your career with your child’s class. If you wear a uniform, or if you have any special
equipment/tools please bring them when you visit. Another way to share your career is to make a
video of you at work, showing what you do, where and how you do your job. If you have a
creative idea you’d like to share, please do! Let September or your child’s teacher know what
would be a convenient time for you to visit if you can. (It would only be 30 minutes or so.) I’m
sure your child would be thrilled to have you visit and share your career information with their
